• For e-2 wheelers, the subsidy is Rs 5,000 per kilowatt-hour in the first year, capped at Rs 10,000. In the second year, the subsidy is halved.
• For e-3 wheelers and e-rickshaws, a demand incentive of Rs 25,000 will be available in the first year, and Rs 12,500 in the second year.
• For e-trucks, a budget of Rs 500 crore is allocated to promote their adoption, further solidifying India’s push towards sustainable logistics.

Boost to Charging Infrastructure

One of the primary concerns for EV buyers has been range anxiety. The government aims to tackle this by significantly expanding the network of electric vehicle public charging stations (EVPCS). The scheme includes a budget of Rs 2,000 crore to install 72,300 charging points across high EV-penetration cities and highways. This will also include 22,100 fast chargers for e-4 wheelers, 1,800 fast chargers for e-buses, and 48,400 fast chargers for e-2 and e-3 wheelers.

This infrastructure will create a seamless experience for EV users, ensuring that long-distance travel is no longer a challenge.

Upgrading Testing Facilities for Better EV Standards

To ensure the quality and performance of electric vehicles, Rs 780 crore has been allocated to upgrade testing agencies.
